The „External files in the media library“ plugin can be uninstalled as usual. Proceed as follows:
- Go to Plugins in the WordPress backend and select the plugin from the list there.
- Deactivate it if it is not already deactivated.
- Then click on „Delete“ to remove the plugin from your project.
What exactly happens?
When the plugin is uninstalled, all settings that the plugin had brought with it and set are removed. All WordPress cronjobs that it had created are also removed.
But be careful: External files that you have stored in the media library are also removed.
However, there is also an attitude to change this behavior:
Under Settings > External files in the media library > Advanced you will find 2 check marks:
Delete all data when uninstalling
The checkmark is set by default and leads exactly to the above. If you do not want this, uncheck the box here before uninstalling the plugin.
Switch external files to local hosting during uninstallation
If the box is checked, all external files are converted to real files when the plugin is uninstalled.
