The „External files in the media library“ plugin allows you to use files from various external sources. You can also save these for reuse. How to do this is described below.
What are external sources?
External sources are the connections to external servers on which files are stored that you can import into your media library. You can set up new connections of this kind to various servers and services yourself at any time and without limit, e.g. to a FTPFTP File Transfer Protocol-access, to your DropboxDropbox Online data storage, to Google Cloud Storage and much more.
Save external source
Before establishing the connection
Before you connect to an external source, you have a button below the form that you can use to specify that this connection should be saved. Once the connection has been successfully established, it will also be saved.
After establishing the connection
With most external sources, you can also save this connection after the connection has been established using the button above.
Manage external sources
You can find all your saved external sources under Media library > Your external sources.
Here you can delete them, edit them and, of course, connect to them. Other options such as synchronization or export are also available.
